This July, a Maine woman will try to become the first paraplegic to climb Katahdin.
Jacquelyn Lowman, 63, an associate professor at University of Maine at Presque Island, is a paraplegic who was born with spina bifida. This summer, she will try climbing Katahdin with the help of her service dog Saint, a special wheelchair, and a 17-member team from UMPI, according to an article on BangorDailyNews.com.
Lowman and her team believe this will be the first time a paraplegic has attempted the climb.
