A bridge along the Appalachian Trail just before summiting Katahdin in Maine has been closed by park officials and the trail temporarily rerouted.
Officials with Baxter State Park today announced the bridge at Katahdin Stream Falls along the Hunt Trail—also the Appalachian Trail—is currently closed and being replaced.
During the bridge replacement, officials said hikers should use the bypass trail that begins at the Katahdin Stream Ranger Station. This bypass is marked with blue flagging.
