Eight hikers who became lost had to be rescued in New Hampshire’s Pawtuckaway State Park Saturday night.
According to officials with the Nottingham Fire and Rescue Department, emergency crews responded to Pawtuckaway State Park Saturday night after receiving a report of a group of lost hikers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 24.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said the lost hikers could not find their way back to their car after the sun had set.
Rescue crews staged vehicles at the Shaw Trail and Fundy Trail intersection and began hiking roughly a half-mile to the lost hikers on the Shaw Trail. Rescuers made contact with the lost group at approximately 11 p.m.
After locating the hikers, rescuers walked the group back to the trailhead, where they reportedly received medical attention from Nottingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
No other information was available regarding how the hikers became lost or why they required medical attention.
Nottingham Fire officials said hikers should be prepared anytime they venture into the woods.
