A hiker who fell roughly 100 feet into a ravine was rescued by local firefighters in Vermont over the weekend.
According to Brattleboro Fire Department officials, the department received a report of a female hiker who fell off a trail and into a ravine near the border of Brattleboro and Marlboro at around 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The hiker reportedly was unable to get back to the main trail because of icy conditions. She had been hiking with her dog, who reportedly fell another 100 feet into the ravine.
Firefighters located the hiker roughly a mile from the trailhead. Rescuers used a low-angle rope system to get the hiker back up to the trail.
The hiker’s dog was also rescued, and neither was injured.
