A new loop hiking trail through woods and meadows and offering scenic views will officially open this weekend in western Massachusetts.
The Hilltown Land Trust will mark the official opening of the Clary Hill Trail in Goshen, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 26 with a guided hike of the new trail that is a little more than two miles long. The hike will begin at 1 p.m. Visit the HLT website to learn more about the event.
The 132-acre Clary Hill property was donated to Hilltown Land Trust at the beginning of 2024 with the stipulation that the land be opened to the public for hiking and recreation. The property is spread across the towns of Goshen, Conway, and Williamsburg, and the new trails link Williamsburg’s Briar Hill Conservation Area to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) State Forest in Goshen.
Clary Hill offers scenic views of nearby hills and the Holyoke Range.

Officials said developing trails on the property will provide hikers with an uninterrupted 9-mile hike from Briar Hill Road to the Bullitt Reservation in Ashfield, and link with 19 miles of state forest trails.
The Clary Hill trailhead is located on Briar Hill Rd, Goshen, Massachusetts, just north of the town line with Williamsburg.
From the center of Williamsburg, travel one mile west on Route 9 and turn right onto Old Goshen Road. Continue for 0.4 miles, then another 0.8 miles when it turns into Hemenway Road. Bear left on Briar Hill Road, and continue approximately two miles until you reach parking on your right.
