Injured Hiker Rescued From Steep Trail On Cape Cod

Technical, challenging rescues don’t just happen in the mountains. Case in point: a recent rescue on Cape Cod.

Firefighters in Falmouth, Massachusetts received a report of a hiker who was injured in a fall at 5:21 a.m. on Saturday, June 28.

According to officials, the woman was injured when she fell while hiking along a steep trail near Nobska Lighthouse in Woods Hole.

Rescue crews found the injured hiker on the trail. Her injuries were reportedly not life-threatening, but she could not get out on her own.

Falmouth Fire and Rescue officials requested additional help, including help from the Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team.

Crews set up a stretcher with ropes attached to a fire truck’s ladder and hoisted the hiker to safety. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
