A Massachusetts climber was injured after falling approximately 30 feet while climbing at the Arrow Wall in Mohonk Preserve on Thursday, May 21.
The fall occured on steep cliff terrain, prompting an immediate emergency response from park officials and Forest Rangers. According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, Forest Rangers responded with local rescue crews after Ulster County 911 recieved reports of the incident.
The 53-year-old climber reportedly suffered injuries to the spine and pelvis. Rescuers conducted a rope evacuation on steep terrain before the climber was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital. Crews were cleared from the scene at 5:40 p.m.
