Freezetivus Fat Bike Event Hits New Hampshire Feb. 15

By Anthony Sims

The weather might be freezing, but that’s just right for an upcoming fat tire biking event in New Hampshire.

The annual fat tire biking event Freezetivus will take place in Franklin Falls, New Hampshire on Sunday, February 15.

The event—hosted by the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA)—will feature plenty of well-groomed terrain suitable for both beginners and pros. There will be demo bikes available on site, as well as rental bikes available nearby at Highland Mountain Bike Shop in Northfield and S&W Sports in Concord.

The NEMBA crew will lead group rides for all ability levels and host a vendor village for anyone hungry. Riders who venture deep into the forest will find what is widely considered the highlight of the event: the infamous bacon station.

This is a fat bike event only, and tires under 3.8 inches wide are not allowed. NEMBA has stated they may open the event to skinny tires if conditions allow, but don’t count on it. They’ll send an update before the event.

Only 250 tickets will be sold for the event. Tickets are $25 for members and $45 for non-members, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward maintaining the bike trails of central New Hampshire.
