Two groups of hikers with no lights had to be rescued at night in separate incidents in New York last week.
New York forest rangers received a report of three lost hikers in the John Dillon Park area of Long Lake at 8:20 p.m. on Friday, August 29.
The three hikers, ages nine, 50, and 55, had no light source and a very low cellphone battery.
At 10 p.m., a forest ranger reached the subjects and provided a ride to their vehicle at the park.
Forest rangers responded to another call of hikers with no light source at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.
The three hikers were reportedly on McKenzie Mountain.
A ranger reached the group, provided headlamps, and escorted them back to the trailhead. Resources were clear at 10:20 p.m.
