Hikers in the popular reservation near Boston are being asked to wear bright colors.
Officials in Massachusetts want hikers to know that hunting will take place in the popular Blue Hills Reservation near Boston in November, and they should take precautions.
Permitted archery deer hunting will be allowed in the reservation beginning November 3 through 26. Hunting will be allowed only from Mondays through Thursdays (but not on Thanksgiving), and only in designated areas of the reservation.

The reservation’s trails will remain open to the public, but officials are asking hikers to wear bright or blaze orange for safety.
According to Mass Wildlife officials, white-tailed deer are thriving in the Blue Hills, far more than the forest can support. They said large populations of deer prevent the forest from regenerating, preventing new trees from growing and reducing habitat for other wildlife.
This is the tenth year of the hunting program in the Blue Hills.
