Last month, New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said the Huntington Ravine Trail should not be listed as a hiking trail.
Their statement came after a hiker was seriously injured in a 50-foot fall on the notoriously dangerous trail on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. They said Huntington Ravine Trail is not a trail for every day hikers or people who are not prepared with ropes, climbing gear, and proper footwear. And they said rescue crews have responded many stranded or injured hikers over the years. They punctuated their statement saying the trail should be “avoided at all costs.”
That opinion was reinforced just days later when rescue crews were back at Huntington Ravine using ropes to rescue a stranded hiker.
