In August 2025, ultrarunner Tara Dower set a new overall Fastest Known Time on Vermont’s iconic Long Trail. Now, a new film takes an intimate look at her record-breaking effort.
The film “Fastest Ever On Vermont’s Long Trail” features interviews, first-person footage recorded during Dower’s FKT attempt, and video from pit stops with her crew. The film was created by Emily Cameron.
Dower completed the 272-mile Long Trail in an astonishing three days, 18 hours, and 29 minutes, beating the previous record by just under three hours.

The trail features 68,000 feet of vertical gain over its length running from the Canadian border to Massachusetts. It traverses most of the largest mountains in Vermont, directly summiting or coming within 0.2 miles of summiting all five of Vermont’s 4,000-foot peaks.
Dower is no stranger to FKTs. In September 2024, she set the overall FKT for the 2,189-mile Appalachian Trail, completing it in 40 days, 18 hours, and six minutes.
