Maine has a new ski hill for skiers and riders to enjoy.
On Thursday, February 26, municipal officials in Millinocket, Maine announced on the town’s Facebook page that they would begin operating a rope tow on a local hill in afternoons on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The first day of operations was Friday, February 27.
The hill is located next to Stearns High School and features three trails and a slope with 60 vertical feet.

According to a report on NewEnglandSkiIndustry.com, the hill was the site of a rope tow operation in the 1950s. Town officials have reportedly been working on getting funding for a new rope tow at the hills for several years.
Officials said more info and updates are still to come.
