New York’s Thacher Park Opens For 2026 Climbing Season

The popular New York climbing destination Thacher State Park has opened for the 2026 climbing season.

The park in Voorheesville, New York, officially opened for the climbing season on Thursday, April 9.

Thacher State Park is located on the Helderberg Escarpment and features limestone cliff faces that make it popular among climbers. It also has more than 25 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking.

While the park’s Cave Wall is still closed due to bats, all other climbing walls in the park are open.

Climbers in the park must fill out a climber waiver permit prior to climbing each season.
