More than 40 search and rescue volunteers from three different rescue groups worked together to carry an injured hiker down roughly three miles of difficult terrain in New Hampshire yesterday.
According to a social media post by Lakes Region Search and Rescue, they received a report of a hiker with a lower leg injury near Greenleaf Hut on the Old Bridle Path shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.

The hiker was roughly three miles and 2,500 feet of elevation gain up the Old Bridle Path.
While the injury was unfortunate for the hiker, the timing was pretty lucky. A total of more than 40 members of Lakes Region Search and Rescue, Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue, and Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue had just finished a joint search and rescue training session at nearby Cannon Mountain. Their training had just concluded at 3 p.m.
According to members of Lakes Region SAR, every one of the rescuers was needed for the long carry out of the injured hiker.
The team used litter passes over some obstacles and low angle rope belays over others.
The team and hiker arrived back at the trailhead at 9:15 p.m.
