Maine’s Grueling Sugarloaf Uphill Race Takes Place Sunday, Oct. 11

Sugarloaf Resort will host one of Maine’s most brutal mountain races this weekend.

The annual Sugarloaf Uphill Climb will take place this Sunday, October 11 at Maine‘s Sugarloaf Mountain.

Billed as “Maine’s toughest mountain run,” the Uphill Climb will challenge participants to race up to the top of 4,237-foot Sugarloaf—Maine’s second-highest peak—as fast as they can.

The course is just under three miles and features roughly 2,500 feet of elevation gain.

The race begins with a mass start at the bottom of the SuperQuad at 10 a.m.

All racers will receive a lunch, and complimentary beer (21-plus only).

This race will occur rain or shine, and organizers said it is not uncommon to encounter snow at the summit of the mountain, so participants should bring plenty of extra layers.

Trucks will be provided to transport racer bags from the start line to the finish and will depart 15 minutes prior to the start of the race.

There will not be transportation provided for runners on the way down, so participants should plan to hike down afterwards.
