Unprepared Hikers Rescued On Monadnock

Three hikers who officials said were unprepared had to be rescued on Mount Monadnock on Friday night.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game officials, they received a report from New Hampshire State Police of a group of hikers calling for help on Monadnock at 8:20 p.m. on Friday, April 10.

Officials said the group of three hikers were made up of minors who were not dressed for the falling temperatures. They also reportedly did not have lights, proper footwear, or gear for snow and ice. They were stranded on the Red Spot Trail.

Two conservation officers hiked up to the stranded hikers, making contact with them on the Old Ski Path Trail at 10:10 p.m.

The hikers were given the necessary gear to hike down to the Monadnock Headquarters with assistance, arriving just after 11 p.m.
