It may be the middle of January, but in a sure sign that spring is coming (eventually), Maine’s Baxter State Park is now taking reservations for summer camping. Famed as the home to Mount Katahdin and one end of the Appalachian Trail, the park has miles upon miles of great hiking and paddling opportunities, and presents visitors with the kind of wilderness experience that is rarely found east of the Mississippi.
Park reservations can be made anytime within four months of the date of reservation. To learn more, visit the Baxter State Park Authority webpage.
