According to an article in the Boston Herald, cycling advocates in Massachusetts are working to create a high school mountain biking league.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association reports that there are 15 such leagues with more than 5,000 student-athletes nationwide. Most of those leagues are based out West, but that might soon change.
New York has already established a league, the New York High School Cycling League, which was established in 2012 to provide competitive mountain biking programs for students in grades 9 to 12. And Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and other states are now showing interest.
