Maine’s spectacularly scenic Acadia National Park attracts more than 2 million visitors a year. And with summer approaching, park officials are gearing up for their busy season.

In light of that, the Bangor Daily News recently ran an article listing 11 things people might not know about Acadia, but should. Included on the list was this interesting fact: Acadia officials conduct an average of 38 technical rope rescues each year.
