Early this past winter, peakbagger and filmmaker Thomas Cayer set off to experience the thrill of hiking the Mahoosuc Range region of Maine in winter.
He captured the experience in his film “Winter in the Mahoosuc Range.”
The Mahoosucs are a northern extension of the White Mountains straddling the border between New Hampshire and Maine.
Cayer set off in the snow to take his best shot at bagging two trailless peaks on either side of Mahoosuc Notch.
The hike took him through snow-covered trails, by ice-covered trees, up steep climbs, and through dense spruce to the summits of two seldom traveled mountains.
