Body Of Missing Sea Kayaker Found In Maine

The body of a kayaker who went missing after his kayak overturned in Maine Tuesday morning has been found.

The Maine Marine Patrol recovered the body of Jeffery B. Eaton, 55, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, from the waters near the Deer Isle Bridge at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.

Eaton was reported missing this morning at approximately 10:30 a.m. by family members who saw him overturn his kayak shortly after he launched from the shore near the end of Wiegand Place on Little Deer Isle.

Officials with the Maine Department of Marine Resources said Eaton was not wearing a lifejacket or a wet suit.

Eaton was reportedly a summer resident of the area.

Marine Patrol along with members of the Maine State Police/Maine Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Team, the Maine Marine Patrol aircraft, and the U.S. Coast Guard participated in the search.
