New Trail Race Packed With Steep Climbs Set For New York On October 4

A new trail race is coming to New York in October, and it promises a rugged course packed with challenging climbs.

The trail race event organizer Conquer The World Endurance (CTW Endurance) recently announced they are launching a new race this October: The Highlander Heavy Half.

The race will reportedly take place on Sunday, October 4 in the Hudson Highlands region of eastern New York, roughly 60 miles north of New York City.

Organizers promise the event will take full advantage of the region’s steep, hilly terrain. While the course is 13.7 miles long, racers will need to overcome 4,000 feet of elevation gain over those miles.

While the course might be grueling, the scenery should be spectacular. The event’s early October date means racers will be running (or power hiking … or crawling…) as the Hudson Highlands area approaches peak foliage.

Registration isn’t open yet. But organizers said they’ll have more information and will be opening registration soon.
