A bald eagle found injured on a New York roadway this spring has been released back into the wild after being rehabilitated for more than a month.
On May 7, a New York Environmental Conservation officer responded to a New York State trooper’s request for assistance regarding a large adult eagle found on a thruway in Montgomery County and unable to fly.
The officer was able to safely secure the large female bald eagle and take it to North Country Wild Care in Saratoga Springs.
After more than a month of being rehabilitated at the wildlife center, the same environmental conservation officer that rescued the bird joined members of the wildlife center on June 17 to release the eagle back into the wild.
The eagle was released along the Mohawk River in Minden, New York, near where it was rescued by the officer.
