Authorities in Vermont are searching for the person responsible for illegally killing a black bear and dumping it in the Connecticut River.
Vermont Fish and Wildlife officials are asking the public for information regarding the bear after it was discovered in the Connecticut River in Newbury, Vermont on the morning of Monday, July 13.
Officials said the bear was a mother bear and there are indications she had cubs.
Officials said it appears the bear was dumped near the Newbury-Haverhill Boat Launch. The bear’s body reportedly had a single gunshot wound.
