One person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital after a shooting incident along the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania Monday evening.
The incident reportedly occurred near the trail’s northbound mile marker 1,070, near the Deer Lick Shelters close to Pennsylvania’s south central border with Maryland.
According to Washington Township Police officials, they responded to assist with a medical call for a reported shooting near the AT at around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27.
Officers stood by to maintain scene integrity and assist with processing as needed. The victim was reportedly taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.
Police said the incident was determined to be accidental, and there is no threat to the public.
