Rumney Rocks Climbing Area in New Hampshire is fully open for climbing after sections were closed for three months due to nesting peregrine falcons.
The U.S. Forest Service announced the reopening today, saying the peregrine falcon pair at Rumney Rocks had successfully fledged two chicks, so the Main Cliff is once again fully open to climbing.
Forest Service officials closed parts of Main Cliff and Main Cliff Right at Rumney Rocks in early April to protect both the birds and climbers.
Peregrine falcons can be territorial and officials said the birds may attack climbers who get too close to their nest.
