A hiker reportedly suffered serious injuries in Guilford, Connecticut, on Saturday after falling roughly 300 feet in rough terrain.

According to officials, the woman fell from the side of the Mattabesset Trail in the area of Bluff Head and Northwoods. Hikers who heard her screams called 911.

Using ropes and harnesses, firefighters were able to secure the hiker to a backboard and into a basket. She was then taken by helicopter to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

The roughly 50-mile-long Mattabesset Trail is known for its high traprock ridges, scenic cliffs and rough terrain.
