A tourist from Singapore who was hiking in New York’s Minnewaska State Park on Friday, December 22, died after falling 70 feet off a cliff.
The victim, Nur Aisyah Binte MD Akbar, 39, and her husband, Abdul Rauf Bin Mohd Said, 41, were reportedly hiking on the Beacon Hill Trail at around 1 p.m. when they stopped to take photos at the edge of a cliff. That’s when Binte MD Akbar reportedly lost her footing and fell roughly 70 feet.
Her husband immediately called 911, and a state police helicopter was dispatched to the scene.
Rescue crews transported her to a local hospital, but she reportedly died from her injuries.
