Two hikers had to be rescued on New Hampshire’s Mount Moosilaukee over Memorial Day Weekend after they hiked down the wrong side of the mountain.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game officials, hikers Michael A. Capone, 23, and Tyler Mukulski, 21, both of Milford, Massachusetts, decided to head down the mountain ahead of five other people they were hiking with.

Officials said the hikers descened the Benton Trail instead of the Beaver Brook Trail, putting them on the wrong side of the mountain. The two called for help at roughly 9 p.m.

Conservation officers found the hikers a little more than two miles behind a gate off Tunnel Stream Road and brought them to their friends at the Beaver Brook Trailhead.
