The scenic forests and hills of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom will host a grueling 24-hour endurance race in September.

The race – 24 Hours of the Northeast Kingdom – will be held at the North Woods Stewardship Center in East Charleston, Vermont on September 15 and 16. In addition to an individual 24-hour trail race, other race options include a 12-hour individual race, and 12- and 24-hour team relay options.

The race will be run on a single 3.1-mile trail loop. The course consists of a combination of winding singletrack and wide open doubletrack that passes through open upland hardwood forests, and tightly-spaced early succession pine/hemlock/tamarack forest groves. The loop passes impressive stone round barn and farm house foundations and active, sustainably managed forests.

The event is being put on by Ironwood Adventure Works, an organization that puts on several races in Vermont each year.
