It was a moment of pure live television gold.
A news crew was out covering the winter storm pounding the Northeast on Tuesday, filming a live segment from Long Beach, New York, when they decided to interview a surfer emerging from the frigid Atlantic.
They began asking him questions about the conditions, but the story they got was much better. It turns out this was his first time surfing . . . ever. He had drifted about a mile away from his car, and he was cold. So he asked, “Do you have a van here?”
