First Snow Of The Season Falls In The Northeast

Skiers rejoice: The first snowflakes of the season fell across parts of the Adirondacks and northern New England yesterday.

Photographer Jonathan Zaharek shared video on Instagram of snow blowing in the Adirondacks late in the day on Monday, October 5.

Resort officials at Whiteface Mountain also shared photos of their summit covered in snow.

But the flakes weren’t limited to just New York.

In Vermont, WCAX TV reported the the state’s highest peak, Mount Mansfield, saw its first snow of the season at around 3:30 p.m.

Of course, with other peaks in the region getting their first taste of snow, New Hampshire’s Mount Washington wasn’t going to be denied.

The Mount Washington Observatory reported that the Northeast’s tallest peak received 0.7 inches of snow between Monday and Tueday morning.
