One of the most exciting steep creek kayak races in the Northeast returns to Maine next month.
The popular Smalls to the Wall whitewater kayak race will take place at Smalls Falls near Rangeley, Maine on April 18.
The falls are located in a scenic steep, narrow gorge that features rock slides and waterfalls. It is a popular spot for whitewater kayakers looking for an action-packed day of “park-n-huck” style paddling.

Created in 2014, the Smalls to the Wall event is a time trial race that consists of five waterfalls ranging from five to 20 feet in less than a quarter of a mile.
Smalls to the Wall is the first of three annual whitewater events that make up the Maine Whitewater Championships (MWWC). After Smalls to the Walls kicks the series off in April, it then continues in August with two more events, one on the Kennebec River and one on the Penobscot River.
Smalls to the Wall featuers individual time trials. Each participant will have two opportunities to run the course. Both runs will be added together for the racers overall combine time. The fastest combine time totals in each division wins.
