The Deerfield River in Charlemont, Massachusetts has long been the premier whitewater rafting and paddling destination in southern New England. And for decades, paddlers have come together each year to celebrate the area’s paddling culture.
That gathering will take place at the beginning of August this year as the annual Deerfield Riverfest returns to Charlemont on August 1 and 2.
Organized by Zoar Outdoor, Berkshire East, and American Whitewater, the event includes a weekend of community paddling trips on the Deerfield River, plus paddling clinics, gear demos, and more.
The highlight of the weekend is the party at Berkshire East that begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and features live music, games, vendors, food, and drink. The event also features a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting river conservation.
