Skiers and riders in the Poconos will have some new trails to enjoy this winter.
Officials at Pennsylvania’s Camelback Mountain recently announced they have begun construction on three new ski trails for the upcoming ski season.
They said the new trails are part of the resort’s biggest terrain expansion in more than 30 years.
A new double black under the Stevenson Lift will follow the fall line right off the top and drop straight toward Pharaoh’s, giving skiers and riders fun, steep turns.
Off Upper Cleopatra, a new blue will wind through the woods before joining Big Pocono. Resort officials said this new trail provides more room to work on linking turns and getting comfortable skiing through tight terrain. They said they also plan to hide a secret hot chocolate bar in this area.
The third new trail is a black below Basilisk that is for skiers who “want to step it up a little.” The trail features fun rolling terrain, some turns to work through, and a completely new way to connect Basilisk down toward the Bailey.
Camelback has been pushing the limits of Pennsylvania skiing recently. Last spring, the resort was still making snow in late April, long past their previous longest operating season since they opened in 1963.
