Despite thousands of adorable YouTube videos and Facebook photos to the contrary, the truth is nature can be harsh and brutal. Viewers of a popular bald eagle web cam in Pennsylvania recently found out the hard way.
The Hays Bald Eagle Cam is set up so the viewing public can watch the progress of the eagles. But on Tuesday, many viewers watched in horror as the adult eagles brought a cat to the nest and fed it – live on camera – to their two eaglets.
According to an article on Pittsburgh CBSLocal, a wildlife expert said it appeared the cat was already dead and that it’s possible it could have been struck by a car and then scavenged by the eagles.
