Organizers of the Smalls to the Wall kayaking race are hoping for a sequel to last year’s inaugural steep creek event. But they need your help to pull it off.
Last April, a few gutsy kayakers competed in the first-ever Smalls to the Wall whitewater race that included several Class V waterfalls surrounded by sheer cliff near Rangeley, Maine. The race, held at Smalls Falls on the Sandy River, was just about an eighth-of-a-mile long, but included 60 feet of vertical drop over six waterfalls.
Organizers are hoping to have the exciting event again. But to do so, they need to raise $2,000 by April 11. They’re nearly there. To date, they’ve raised more than $1,800. Just a little more help, and one of the Northeast’s most exciting new paddling events can be held again.
