Two hikers who officials said did not have a light and were unprepared for icy conditions had to be rescued in the dark in the Adirondacks on Sunday.

The hikers were reportedly on Haystack Mountain in North Elba, New York, but they said they were unable to continue their hike.

The hikers reportedly did not have proper traction devices for the icy conditions, and they did not have headlamps to help them in the dark.

Two forest rangers met the hikers on the trail and escorted them out of the woods. Resources were clear at 8:03 p.m.
