More than 40 acres of land was recently added to a central Massachusetts wildlife refuge known for hiking trails and wildlife viewing.
Officials with the Mount Grace Land Trust recently announced they partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game to conserve 43 acres of land in Winchendon, Massachusetts.

The newly-conserved land expands MassWildlife’s Nineteenth Hill Wildlife Management Area west of Route 140 and connects to a large, contiguous block of conserved land stretching south from downtown Winchendon.
Officials with the land trust said the undeveloped property sits within the Millers River and Otter River watersheds and holds high-quality forest and wildlife habitat.
The refuge has hiking trails and wildlife viewing. It is also located just north of Winchendon State Forest, which features 1,300 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and ponds.
