Rescue crews in New York helped a hiker who was severly-injured from a 25-foot fall off a cliff on Christmas Eve.

According to officials with the Woodbury Fire Department in New York, crews responded to Harriman State Park for a report of a hiker who was injured after falling off a cliff.

Crews hiked roughly 1.5 miles into the woods to the hiker’s location. The hiker reportedly had suffered a broken leg and broken jaw.

The hiker received first aid and was packaged into a litter. He was carried out of the woods to a helicopter and was medevaced to a local hospital.

Officials said the rescue took roughly three hours.
